Friends & Family, here I present Josh Garrett

Biblical tradition tells us that kid’s were named signifying a meaning to the family. Thats what names like Benjamin, Jesus, Solomon and host of others signify.

Its also a catholic tradition to have 3 names denoting the Christian trinity – Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

I’m following one & letting go of another. But hopefully am also starting another.

Old testament stories reveal that Moses brought the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery. Though he led them through the desert he didn’t lead them into the final destination. It was Joshua who led them into the promised land.

Have you ever moved into a new city and into new house. Its one thing to search for a house but its entirely another matter to settle comfortably in there. Thats the difference between Moses & Joshua.

I’ve come to believe that symbolic interpretations are better (and lot more practical) than literal ones. And talking of symbols, we – as a family – went through our times of slavery & walk-through-desert. But I believe that this birth will transform our family in a way to inherit our promises. So is the name Josh – a shorter version of Joshua.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I consider its only fair to recognize the pain & the agony that a mother goes through. Is there a better way to do it than to name the kid with mother’s name? So comes the name ‘Garrett’, a derivative of Margerat. Garrett is a Germanic derivative of Gerard, which means ‘one who is with a spear’.

There you go my friends, here is my lovely boy – Josh Garrett.
