Piyo’s New School

The weekend we were informed that RumiKids was closing, we drove around to find him a new school. I wasn’t keen in getting admission in any big school that would force him with uniform and so on. I don’t want him to get into the rat race of life so early. The primary reason I want him to go to school is to be social. If we were in Tamilnadu, where we would have families & friends mingling, I wouldn’t have put him in school so early. Because if the lack of our social life, he is timid and doesn’t move freely with others. I feel going to school will make him mingle with others.

So we went around looking for a school where he will learn to interact with others but not get into a rat-race. Luckily there was one. We spoke to the principal and we liked what we saw & discussed. So from he has been going to school for the past two weeks and he is enjoying it.

First downloads

BlogEasy has been in the store for 2 days and there has been 3 downloads. I think 2 of them are promo downloads. That still leaves with one actual purchase. It’s great boost to working further.

Btw, the mac app has sold 67 copies so far.

Next Version Is Ready

I have gotten next version of BlogEasy ready. This time with integration with Dropbox so that whenever you publish an article, it gets stored in the Dropbox. This way you have a copy of all articles you wrote in a readable format.

Dental problem starts

I had severe dental problems from 1999 – 2003. By then I had spent many many hours under the dentists’ watch. By 2003, I had almost replaced every tooth, I didn’t suffer from any dental problem afterwards. But today it starts. A small piece of teeth (part of the filling done a decade ago) came off as I was having dinner. It’s about 11.30, and I don’t have pain though teeth is sensitive. I may have to go to a dentist tomorrow.

Piyo’s school shuts down

We were very happy with his school -RumiKids. More than us, he was very happy. He had friends, he went for a trip to a train museum and learnt some rhymes. I was particularly happy that this school was only a play school and hence we don’t have to worry about him being pushed around by fatso boys. I get scared when I see some of the fatsos here.

Yesterday we got a call from the school principal that they are shutting down the school. She informs that the parent company, in Singapore, decided to shutdown and the news is shock even to the teachers there.

It is not a great news for the weekend.

BlogEasy submitted to AppStore

Today I submitted BlogEasy to AppStore. I have set a price of $4.99. As per the available information, it will take about 6 days for the approval, assuming there are no issues with the app submission. So crossing my fingers and waiting.

summer starts

Summer starts here in delhi and that means power cuts & water shortages. Water was stopped in the morning & as I type there is no electrical power.

Summer means more Mosquitos too.

As they say, only delhi summer will make you long for delhi winter.

an iOS app of my own

I have always wanted to build a mobile app. In fact when I got a palm pilot way back in 2000, I got into developing apps for it. But I never managed to get past a simple ‘hello world’ program.

Once I got BlogEasy developed and put on the AppStore I had an idea to develop the same for iOS. That got additional motivation when I went for Christmas vacation to Tuticorin. I didn’t take my laptop; I had carried only he iPad. I couldn’t blog because I didn’t have an app on iPad.

Once I came back I went full swing into this. I would listen daily to the application development lectures of a Stanford professor, and read books & articles. Then slowly I started developing the app.

In the mean time work took an ugly turn (that’s a big story and its for another time). That delayed the development quite considerably.

Long story short, I am typing this blog post from my own iOS app, BlogEasy. This is only a testing phase. So lot of rough edges still. But in a week, I should be able to get this production ready.
