A good weekend

Not every weekend is satisfying & good. But time to time it passes through, this weekend was one like that.

Jerry rolled over and starting to sleep in that position – as like his Thatha, Appa & Annan. Joy told me even DJ sleeps in that position.

I submitted the app to Mac AppStore for review. Progress is slow but am happy even if slow.

FaceTime on iOS is cool. We are now mostly on FaceTime (sometimes on Skype). Weekend we chatted with my cousin’s family, who have been here on vacation. Then we chatted with Joy & all at Bangalore.

Also got cycle repaired for Piyo. He is excited to get his cycle back. He is always on it. Today he got up and then straight went to his cycle.

Both days food was also fantastic. Rani is definitely becoming a super cook.

So now back to work.

First app submitted to Appstore

I have tried many times before to get into online commerce – remember first developing an app for Palm PDA which didn’t get through much; then I developed a cross-platform photo-album tool. But that time, I didn’t know how to market it, host it, sell it and so on. So I gave it as free. It picked up pretty good. I even got appreciation from an US professor (in fact he sent me $100). It also got featured in few magazines in Europe.

Ever since I owned a Mac, I wanted to develop for it. This year I started working on it seriously. They have a distribution mechanism and generally Mac user purchase applications instead of looking for free software. On the minus side, they have a strict approval process (which is actually a plus side for users).

As I mentioned earlier I developed an app, which I have submitted for review today. I’m excited and waiting anxiously. I’m told it will take at least 15 days.

Bosses are back

Last Friday (10th) was a holiday. So I took a day off on Thursday and went to Bangalore. My cousin and family had come from London. It was a good family time. We visited Mysore on Friday (we enjoyed the zoo; not so much of palace; but the ladies enjoyed the shopping just in front of Philomina church, while we went to church praying they will be out quickly. even then it took 2 or 3 hours!).

Godfrey was generous enough to buy 3 iPod Touch for all of his kids.

On Sunday, they left to Chennai, en route to Sri Lanka. We left to Delhi.

Piyo still wants to go back to Bangalore. He keeps repeating it, though as the days go by it is lesser.

End of Delhi stay?

Just heard that Avinash Srivastava, who serves as joint secy here (who is the project leader – unlike in IT companies there is no project manager here; project leader is in fact the sponsor) is empaneled for promotion to additional secy. One common phenomenon I’ve witnessed in eGov domain is that a new guy normally throws out existing consultants. It has happened many times. That makes me wonder if my days here in Delhi are numbered.

Going to Bombay

Tomorrow I’m going to IIT Bombay for a preliminary meeting with Prof Deepak Phatak ( who lists ‘giving unsolicited advice to unsuspecting individuals and groups’ as a hobby) regarding selection of transition partner for the next version of the project that I’m working with (MCA21 v2).

I still pinch myself. I can’t believe the heights that I am scaling to. Gives me a humbling feeling especially since I know there are many more eligible people for this task than me.

Checking from my own app

I have written a blog editor for mac os x and I’m posting this from that app. (eating one’s own dog food 🙂 ). It is close to launch. I am still looking for a commerce store and hosting provider to host the app. Hopefully all goes well and I will join the club of independent developers.
