4000 in 3 months

It is hard to believe for my sister, few friends and me. Yet it is true. I’ve traveled 4000 kms in 3 months. Just unbelievable! My sister’s friend says that I could’ve done it only if I’ve a girl friend, which is definitely is not the case. For an Indian, it is too much a distance to cover. I haven’t yet started to travel to near-by cities as I’ve planned. With the soaring oil prices, I need to keep an eye on the odometer.

On the other hand, it might be a sign of, me living life to the maximum. I enjoy driving (even through awful Chennai traffic). Though I’ve not gone out of Chennai (except once to Pondy), I’ve driven to places in every direction of the city. After little planning, I should be going out of Chennai for weekends.

To drive-in theatre

Yesterday evening when I was cleaning the car, Prakash, my neighbour, threw me a question. “Joseph, have you been to Prarthana?” That is how our late-evening program got set. His family and I went to Prarthana, a near-by drive-in theatre. I’ve never been to one before and it turned into a rather pleasant experience. We went for 22h00 show. It is an open theatre, which can host around 200 cars. Just park your car and you can view from inside the car. Or as we did, spread floor mats, sit on the floor, lean on the car and enjoy the show. It is a pretty cool and cozy ambience. I absolutely enjoyed it.

Well, how about the movie? It is a new release – Arindhum Ariyamalum. Hero doesn’t look like one, heroin doesn’t look like one, and villain doesn’t look like one. And the story? It also doesn’t sound like the traditional Tamil movie story, however it keeps the audience captivating. Though, I would’ve liked any movie in such an ambience, an interesting one adds a perfect touch to the whole evening.

Showers brings some cheers

There are two things that drive me nuts here in Chennai – traffic and weather. One is not part of traffic all day long, but the weather? Even by morning 7 it gets so hot that you feel like being with a hot woman (sorry, I meant oven) and it lasts through late evening. It has been like this for almost 3 months now. Today evening, there were some showers. Hope it will cool down the city.

What I’ve been up to

With parents gone and not much work at office, I have lots of free time. Spent all the time with the first love (rather the only love as of now).

  • Via forwards and stealing from other sites, I’ve gathered lots of jokes and funny pictures. Some of them make me laugh non-stop. With a purpose of laughing at any time and a good purpose of making others laugh, I’ve added another category ‘Humor’ in Musings. Added few items as well. You need to drill down from Ramblings.
  • Created two albums in worldisround account. They could be visited from links on the side bar.
  • One more article in Musings. Can be read from the front page.
  • I’ve 2 more articles in draft stage. Hope to finalize soon and put them in Musings soon.

Reason for silence

It has been long time, since I blogged. For the past 25 days or so, it has been extremely tight at office. I was here every day working for more than 12 hrs a day. It was all because of poor planning from client side and my team at offshore was pulled into the shit by ‘please-the-client-at-all-cost’ managers. Man, it was a marathon activities tiring all of us. But with support from many quarters, we were able to finish the tasks and get out of the shit-load. One thing I learnt: if you are good, you will get lots of work. If you are really good, you will get out of them successfully.

All Russian finals

Last year’s women French open finals was all Belgian. I was in Belgium then and it was a big news. Belgian royal family and the Premier went to Paris to witness the event. This year it is all Russian. I don’t think any Russian executive is flying into Paris for this event. It is kind of cool to have both players from the same country. But for the fans from Russia, it will be difficult to choose side.

Shocking exits

In the ongoing French opens, there has been quite a number of shocking exits already. Andrew Agassi began it. Andy Roddick followed. Worst of all is that Justine is off the court. I remember watching her playing gloriously towards the championship last year, while I was having helluva time driving through the Romantic road in Germany. How much changes in this year!

Proud to be an Indian

Reality could be much more fascinating than fiction, and it is so true in Indian politics. Amidst all the battering that India treats religious minorities badly, we now have top two positions filled with men from minority communities. Until few days back it looked like the prime minister post would be filled with a woman from Italy. I am really impressed with Sonia Gandhi, wife of late Rajiv Gandhi. She brought a face-lift to Congress party, which had lost its identity after the defeat to BJP. She brought all the political stalwarts under one umbrella and eventually bringing a surprising defeat to BJP. Probably even some of Congress men wouldn’t have thought they could win. Sonia made a right choice in proposing the ex-finance minister as a prime minister. He is the architect of our current fiscal reforms and a lot of expectations are with the public to see India keep on shining.
