Loosing something

Those who know me, know that I’m generally a very cautious & careful about those that I own. I can’t remember the last time I lost something (if you don’t count the gals of course).

But today as I went for shopping for my sister, wife & myself and was both-hands-full. It is normally very crowded in Rajiv Chowk metro station. A colleague of mine has lost more than 2 mobiles in the metro and hence I’m extremely careful.

But today I had both hands full and someone utilized it.

Today it was crowded than normal and as everyone was pushing to get into the metro as metro was running late (generally there is one metro once 5-6 min and today it was once in 15 min). When I got into the metro, I realied that someone pickpocketed my mobile.

I had Piyo’s video, photos and they are lost.

I’m bit upset but hopefully I will get over it.

A weekend routine

My weekends have become a routine (as a matter of fact, everyday is routine).

Washing clothes, cleaning house takes up most of the time. By evening, I come to a near-by (if one got time, every place is near-by – this is almost 15 min walk) south-indian restaurant called, Subham Valley. I have a soup (corn soup), fried rice & finish it up with a coffee.

There are not lot of restaurants near-by. So I have to be content with this, though I like to taste different foods.

Every day is colder

Delhi has a wierd climate as like the thinking of some of the politicians living here. Its either scorching high or freezing low. Pleasantness is unheard of – be it weather or politicial thinking.

I thought 3rd week of Dec was worse. I was glad to spend the last week in Bangalore with the family. When I returned, to my dismay, it was colder than before. But now the 2nd week is still colder! Will it go further down?

Piyo is healthy as he reaches 4 months

Today Rani went for regular check up. Doc gave the good news that Piyo is well and healthy. We had few concerns like his vomitting after feed, no regular bowel movements, heavy breathing sounds (though only sometimes) etc. But doc said all of it is normal.

All credit should goto Rani. She is taking care of the baby extremely well. She wakes up everytime Piyo wakes up in the night. And if needed, which is almost always, she feeds him.

I’m glad that he is growing up healthy. I miss holding him & rocking him to sleep. But the irony is I’m here.

A pleasant surprise for the year

Last time when I was boarding the Indigo flight, I was thinking to myself, I should fly by first class one time.

Someone up there should have been listening.

Yesterday when I reached the check-in counter of Kingfisher, there was a surprise. ‘Sir, you are upgraded to first class’, the pretty lady in the counter looked prettier when she said that. At the first class lounge, the great Hindi director Nassrudin Shah was in the next seat, with his family. I had to resist the temptation of walking upto him for an autograph.

I didn’t have to stand in the queue to board the plane, because we were called the last. Since I flew by Kingfisher many times earlier (I’m a member of their frequent flier program called King club), I do know their food & service are better. But I didn’t expect that in first class, its ‘la carte’. I had spinach soup, Punjabi chicken & Peach cake. Not to mention that the food was tasty. You are also pampered with prompt service since there are about 5 hostesses for 24 guests. All in all it was a surprise & a pleasant one in that.

I’m going to be careful with my wishes. They might come true.

10 days of good times comes to an end

A relaxing holiday was long over due. I came home on 24th and had a quality time with the family. I spend a lot of time with Piyo, Rani & all family members. Its nice to hold Piyo and rock him to sleep (though few days he woke up few times in night). In fact this is the first time I spent most of the time inside home. I did very few outings – met iGate colleagues for lunch & went for swimming (it was another relaxing time to be in the pool). Other than these two, it was all family time – went to church, went shopping for Piyo. Loved every moment of it.

Now its time to head back to Delhi and face the not-so-fun work & lonliness. I’m on my way to the airport. My flight is delayed by 15 min. Sine Delhi is covered with fog & there has been lots of cancellation & delay in flights, I’m not that surprised. Hopefully I can get home and have a decent sleep before kick starting work for this year.

A new start to new year

My family goes to church to be with god; I go to church to be with the family.

We took Piyo, in one of his first outing, to Church on Jan 1st. For a change I enjoyed the sermon in the church – it centered around wisdom, contentment & service to humanity. After the mass, we went around the Church & took some snaps (you can view them either in facebook or picassa; unfortunately many of them were not sharp at all).

Then at home, there was a traditional ‘blessing’ ttime. In all, it was a peaceful & joyful day.

We did have few concern that he didn’t have enough bowel movements for about 4 days. After few calls, to few friends & pediatrician, we were assured its normal. Then today to make us calmer, he passed enough for 3 days!

It has been a good year

Last year I took a major step in career without knowing exactly how it will turn out. I had to be away from family on New Year.

As you know it turned out pretty fine, at least this year. At least the last half year turned fantastic.

Baby boy, holy land trip for parents, good cash flow, new learnings both in e-gov & stock investments…all turned out to make the year a fantastic one.

One factor could’ve been better – I had to spend most of the year alone. Hope next year I’ll get to spend more time with the family.

Wishing you a vibrant year ahead.

Piyo completes 100 days

Yesterday (30th), Piyo completed 100 days.

I have been in Bangalore for a week and am enjoying it. But I grossly underestimated the time he consumes. When I came here I had plans to go for swim, visit friends, call folks and so on as like earlier times. But only thing I managed to do was to visit my ex-colleagues. All other times, I’m spending with him.

We also bought his first property, a mobile baby cot. I had doubts about his adaptability to it, but he seems to enjoy it.
