Category Archives: Life is like that

So what’s up?

I know I’ve not posted in here directly for quite sometime. I have been busy programming in Django and enjoying it too. I’ve learnt a lot and also gotten some popularity.

I’ve been writing as well. In March alone, I’ve written about 10 articles in jjude.com. I plan to continue to write on Django, C# and bit of general musings.

Wheezing still haunts; in fact these days it is more. I am still searching what can be done. Yoga didn’t help. Last year I was very active with jogging and swimming. Now I am not able to do anything and that hurts me a lot. Hopefully I will get better.

Sister is on a journey to cross 50 airports! She is now in Orlando preparing for a presentation in IBM.

Okay that is it for now. I will keep it coming.

An effective weekend

It has been a good weekend.
: I wrote two articles in the main page – one technical and another general one
: I wrote one more style for FOW – a flash one
: Visited a colleague’s house which was pending for long
: Most of all, Venkat (a friend from Belgium) called up. We are in touch after about 3 years. So that is a good thing.

So it went good so far. 🙂 (this one is for you Venkat)

A very productive day

I took a day off since I was feeling very weak and sick.

But I didn’t feel like sitting or lying down. That would make me feel sicker. So I started to to program. I am glad I did it.

I setup an open source project in code.google. I updated the source code there (of course I did mess up a bit; trying to clean now).

FOW has come up well in .NET. I’ve completed all the programming part of it. Now have to start to create styles. Will do it in the coming days.

A family weekend

My parents came to Bangalore this weekend. They were here for about 6 months and then went home (Tuticorin). They will be again here until May.

Saturday was a boring one as Sister & BIL went to work and I didn’t go for swim. However in the evening we went to the new shopping center ‘Oasis’. Somehow I didn’t like the center much.

Today we went to ‘Herbs & Spice’ for lunch. All of us enjoyed the food. It was pretty good family time.

Then I took the family to my office. This is the first time I take my parents to my workplace. I could see a sense of satisfaction in my dad’s face and that gave me a very good feeling.

Then we went to ‘Cosmos’ shopping center. I bought a handbag for my sister. Then we went to food court on the top floor and had coffee.

Overall it was a good family time.

Pulling thru

its one of those days in which i totally feel like a crap and life doesnt make any sense or meaning; why should i care about others? why shuld i help others when all i get back is backstabbing, backbiting and/or plain being ignored? i wish i culd go to the beach lie down and just empty my heart; and enjoy the stars blinking … pity that bangalore doesn’t have any beaches…

I’m on twitter

For those who don’t know, twitter is a mini-blogging service; each post is not more than 150 chars. So it is a quick exchange of answers to ‘what are you doing’. It is possible to post using sms. There are desktop apps as well.

I am on Twitter. You will see a Twitter badge beneath search form.

Also I’ve configured to consolidate Twitter for each day and post here automatically. I need to test that; hope it works.

I’m loving it

Yoga classes are going fantastic. I enjoy waking up early and doing some physical activity. Also this tutor is a pleasure to learn from. First of all, he does all of these stretches with much ease (though he has a bit of tummy!); second he is very patient to teach you until you learn properly. He doesn’t yell at you or pass hurting remarks (in fact no remarks at all). Most of the days we learn at least one stretch more (he mixes and matches).

Office days pretty fast as I get involved in one meeting to the other; or one initiative or the other.

And by about 4.30 in the evening, I start from office. Depending on the traffic, I am on the pool sometime near 5. Another hour of a relaxing and a pleasant time. Most often times, I am the only one in the pool; but sometimes one or two join as well. Having learnt the breast-stroke, I am so much into it – it is not as straining as other strokes. I can go on swimming for hours. Like the last time that I went to the pool (its about a week as it is closed for maintenance) I did about 30 times. I felt so good after that!

Weekends, also goes on ok. I am planning to go for photography at least once a week. Last week, I took a walk and took some photos near Marathahalli. I haven’t yet posted it. Soon I should be doing that.

Rough Times

I wished that the dawn of the year will bring a close to the series of unlucky events happening in my life. It looks like it was just a wish.

As you know, recently I took over a Peoplesoft Finance project within the department. This team consists of bunch of 2-3 years experienced candidates who have come to believe they have learnt everything under the sky! If it was true, it would’ve been lot more fun to work with them. How sad that it is an illusion. I tried my best to open their eyes to the reality of life. Being led by someone who is a long timer within the department and also a senior to me, bunch of the team members kept complaining to my boss about me. After the first time, I tried to maintain a sober and a compromising approach to the team. In fact I felt I was compromising too much; however last week this bunch of team members again complained to my boss. More than being pissed off, I got hurt – I tried my best to be best – I provided them with responsibilities; gave them opportunities for publishing articles in magazines; appreciated them within the team; gave them very high rating and still they didn’t make an effort to understand my point of view. So I offered to get out of the team. I could’ve easily stayed back and released them from the team; but doing so will impact the morale of the department.

It is not a pleasant feeling to be out like this. Yet, for the betterment of everyone I guess this is the best solution.

By the way, one of the tires got punctured today. It is not related to anything mentioned above. This is the first time it happens and I had to call up help to change tires.

All in all, it is learning

Busy days

It has been busy days – I need more hours!

I start my day at 4.45(!). I go to Yoga by 5.30. Yes, I’ve joined a Yoga class and I’ve been going for 3 days. So it is too early to say about the results; but I’m enjoying it. Yoga is for an hour. Come back and get ready for office.

Not to mention about office; at it is all more work every day. I am already handling a team of about 20 members; my boss wants me to handle one more project, which comes with a team of about 12 members. I’ve told my boss it is not possible unless some tasks from my list are removed.

At 4.30 in the evening, it is time for some relaxation; and so I head to swimming pool. Yes, I’ve started swimming too. It is still a lot cold, but it is getting better. By the way, I have learnt 3 different strokes – only butterfly stroke is left. Hopefully in another month or two, I will learn that too.

In the mean time, I have started to work on my photography too. I have (re-)started the photoblog. Not a lot, but few pics. Already I got some nasty comments from one guy saying all of them are banal, out-of-focus and cliché. It did hurt me when I read it, but I appreciate the fact that this guy took time to put in his comments, though he could’ve said it in a gentle manner.

So you can see that my plate is more than full. And this also means that my days are going so fast. Already half of the month is gone! But it is keeping me busy.
