Last weekend; shopping weekend
I strongly believe, everything comes to an end
Wasn’t a good day
I was already feeling bit disturbed and depressed from Friday night for reasons, I don’t know of.
Yesterday I went to Air France counter in the Airport to change my ticket dates. The travel desk at the firm, back in India, informed me that they have done whatever needs to be done and all that I have to do is to collect the tickets.
I don’t know how everything manages to happen in an exactly wrong way for me? Apparently the morons had booked the original ticket as non-endorsable to cut the cost. So it is not possible to modify the ticket.
So even though I would finish up the contract by Wednesday, I will have to stay here until Saturday to catch the flight. I’ll reach India only by Monday.
Pretty pissed off.
P.S: Yet I finished the day in a good mood. Here is why: When I got back to the room, I was feeling rather disappointed. Still, I gathered some strength and went out to buy a swim goggle. Then in the late night I went down to the swimming pool and practiced for about an hour. At first, I was afraid because it is an unsupervised pool and the water was wavy. But I decided to do what I wanted to do. And slowly I did swim. I am still swimming breath-wise rather than length-wise. I am content though.
Pleased!
Today we presented the project’s progress to the Executive here and he is very pleased. In fact, his exact words were, ‘Good work. I like it’. I am more than thrilled.
Mind you, this guy has a budget that is greater than the revenue of my company.
Counting my days
In exactly 2 weeks, I will be in India. Hippip Hooray!
I am looking forward to those days after 8 weeks of excruciatingly painful lonely days and long working hours.
Drowning in work
With the end of project fast approaching (just 20 days more to go), days are getting longer and longer.
I start with an offshore call at 05h30. I got a status call at 08h30 on Monday and Tuesday. So I run to office after a quick breakfast at the hotel. Most of these days go on with Review meetings, now that the deliverables are ready to be reviewed. Following the meetings, usually I will have to update the deliverables. Or prepare the work for offshore.
My day continues even after I reach the room. As it happened now, I am on call with offshore from 21h30 until 23h30 providing input for them and setting expectation on what is needed next.
And this cycle continues. I worked this weekend too. I don
Escalation
I told you guys already that this project is tracked at a higher level. Every issue is directly reported to the CDO (chief delivery officer) of my firm. Yes true, every small issue.
With the recent strikes and bandh in Bangalore, we slipped a delivery by 3 days. Boom, it is sent to the CDO. 🙁
Probably I should
It is a good day
Just reached home (it is 21h30).
Had a series of very good meetings. As it is a very short assignment, we were able to cut all fat and get to the points quickly in meetings.
Designed few sample screens which will be presented tomorrow for review.
Feel very satisfied by the progress. Feels good to start the week with a very positive note.
Abandoned
When I was writing the proposal for this project, I used to get call from two or three unit heads to check up on the progress. Now that I am here, I wonder where they are. It has been two weeks and absolutely no one has checked up, if I am alive (yea, as if they would care) or if the project is on track (this is what normally they care). It leaves me to wonder, if I, somehow, ended up in a different project than the proposal that I wrote for.
If that was on the official side, personal side is worse. No one cares
Not been a good day, my dear!
This cold is playing havoc with my health
