A sick week

I wrote on Saturday that the coming week will be a better week. But no.

I got so sick of high fever and shivering on Sunday that I went to doctor to get some drugs. He gave severe dosage that I am always feeling like being drunk. I lost my co-ordination. How much ever I eat, my eyes give a perception that I am constantly drinking in my room.

Past three days are terrible. Today I threw up as well.

I thought 8 weeks will go as a fly. I am wrong. It looks like an eternity in hell.

Casa Loma (private castle on the hill)

On Saturday I visited Casa Loma, the largest private home in the Northern America built by Sir Henry Pellatt, who made his money in by signing a monopoly agreement to provide electricity to the streets of Toronto. The house cost approximately $3.5 million and took about 3 years to complete. With 98 rooms, it is an extravagant personal home. It was completed in 1914 and Sir Henry lived there only for 10 years before forced to move out because of bankruptcy.

This guy has been insanely obsessed with medieval ages that he has spent all the money in building a castle for himself and his wife. But the castle is awesome. It is worth a visit.

You can see some pictures from the photo albums from the main site.

Winterlicious lunch

January and February are lean months in terms of tourism because of heavy winter. So the city of Toronto along with most of the restaurants run a program called Winterlicious during winter (Obviously there is something called Summerlicious during summer). The concept is that there is a reduction in the price of lunch and dinner. For a fixed price there is choice of items in the menu. It is a cool concept and for $25, you get to eat lunch that would otherwise cost around $45.

Today I went to a place called Fred

On top of the world

I went to CN Tower today. This is recognized as one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

It was a cool experience – the elevator takes 58 seconds to reach 346m! But of course if you stand without a support, one might get dizzy. The view from the top is spectacular – though one happen to see only sea of snow.

There is a glass floor here. Completely safe. Apparently it can hold 14 large hippos. I was only one! See some of the photos from the Albums (navigation at the top corner of the page)
