Escalation

I told you guys already that this project is tracked at a higher level. Every issue is directly reported to the CDO (chief delivery officer) of my firm. Yes true, every small issue.

With the recent strikes and bandh in Bangalore, we slipped a delivery by 3 days. Boom, it is sent to the CDO. 🙁

Probably I should

It is a good day

Just reached home (it is 21h30).

Had a series of very good meetings. As it is a very short assignment, we were able to cut all fat and get to the points quickly in meetings.

Designed few sample screens which will be presented tomorrow for review.

Feel very satisfied by the progress. Feels good to start the week with a very positive note.

Tarot reading

Happen to glance through today’s tarot reading:

It’s time to share your deep inner truth with someone, without necessarily coming across as a lunatic. If you have suppressed feelings, it may be difficult to keep from going too far with your disclosure. The goal isn’t to blame anyone else for anything. It’s just to clear the air so that you can make an important relationship more meaningful.

Sounds true to me!

You see, somehow I am convinced now that, I’m so close to become a lunatic. But the question remains: who is this someone?

Oh..no, a greater question remains: with whom is this important relationship?

Casa Loma (private castle on the hill)

On Saturday I visited Casa Loma, the largest private home in the Northern America built by Sir Henry Pellatt, who made his money in by signing a monopoly agreement to provide electricity to the streets of Toronto. The house cost approximately $3.5 million and took about 3 years to complete. With 98 rooms, it is an extravagant personal home. It was completed in 1914 and Sir Henry lived there only for 10 years before forced to move out because of bankruptcy.

This guy has been insanely obsessed with medieval ages that he has spent all the money in building a castle for himself and his wife. But the castle is awesome. It is worth a visit.

You can see some pictures from the photo albums from the main site.

Migration…

Over the weekend, I migrated the main site (www.jjude.com) to WordPress from Drupal. I find Drupal to be very versatile and having lots of features; but I wasn’t using any of these and it gets way to complicated for the simple tasks that I have.

Now that I am comfortable with WordPress for this blog, I thought I will use the same for the main site too. Look at it and let me know what do you think – good, bad or ugly?

Winterlicious lunch

January and February are lean months in terms of tourism because of heavy winter. So the city of Toronto along with most of the restaurants run a program called Winterlicious during winter (Obviously there is something called Summerlicious during summer). The concept is that there is a reduction in the price of lunch and dinner. For a fixed price there is choice of items in the menu. It is a cool concept and for $25, you get to eat lunch that would otherwise cost around $45.

Today I went to a place called Fred

Abandoned

When I was writing the proposal for this project, I used to get call from two or three unit heads to check up on the progress. Now that I am here, I wonder where they are. It has been two weeks and absolutely no one has checked up, if I am alive (yea, as if they would care) or if the project is on track (this is what normally they care). It leaves me to wonder, if I, somehow, ended up in a different project than the proposal that I wrote for.

If that was on the official side, personal side is worse. No one cares
